KUALA LUMPUR: A total of RM120 million compensation had been allocated for the sale transactions on plots of land owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall which were recently frozen and eventually cancelled.

Federal Territories (FT) Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said the transaction involved a total of 14ha land.

“FT’s special committee had decided that we reimburse the money (back to the land buyers).

“The reacquisition process is part of future investments. We will also recover money for the land transactions that are currently under renegotiation, which I will announce tomorrow (Monday),” he told reporters after launching Run For The Deaf 2018 programme in conjunction with KL Car Free Morning, here, today.

A total of 97 transactions involving the sale of DBKL lands worth RM5.63 billion were investigated.

In addition to the 10 cancelled transactions, a total of 23 transactions were successfully renegotiated, one brought to court while the 43 others carried through.

Meanwhile, details of transactions on 20 lands that had transferred ownership were handed to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) for investigation.

In a separate development, Khalid said the special compound rates offered to traffic offenders to settle their summons was met with lukewarm response as City Hall only collected RM2 million throughout the discount period in September.

“We had targeted at least RM100 million collection in payments of arrears for the traffic summonses which had reached a staggering RM1billion,” he said.

It was reported that City Hall had since 2006 issued four million notices for various traffic offences which were still unpaid.

Summons payment can be settled at several locations, including DBKL kiosks, post offices, via the DBKL mobile application and www.myeg.com.my or e-bayar.
