PADANG BESAR: ‘‘She was due to deliver her baby today,’’ Abdul Khalid Mustafa, the father of Siti Asmah, said sadly.

Siti Azmah, 27, died in an accident yesterday, together with her husband Muhammad Hafiz Johari, 28, during a heavy storm in Bukit Chabang, Padang Besar.

In the 9.30pm incident involving two vehicles, Siti Asmah and Muhammad Hafiz were in a Nissan Murano, while policeman Constable Muhammad Amirul Naim Aziz, 24, was in a Perodua Kancil. Muhammad Amirul also died in the accident.

Abdul Khalid not only lost his daughter and son-in-law, but also an unborn grandchild.

“The last time I met Asmah was two days ago... yesterday at 7pm, I managed to speak to her on the phone.

“That was the last time I spoke to her,” he said at Hospital Tuanku Fauziah’s (HTF) forensics department, here, this morning.

“I accept what has happened to my daughter and son-in-law as fate. They will be buried at the Kampung Kok Mak cemetery today.”

Siti Asmah and Muhammad Hafiz’s four-year-old child, who was also in the SUV, is injured and currently undergoing treatment at HTF.

Muhammad Amirul would be buried at the Seriab cemetery in Kangar after post-mortem.

Padang Besar district police chief, Superintendant Muhammad Halim Yatim, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

“It happened during a massive storm. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said.
