KANGAR: The Perlis Road Transport Department (RTD) has opened tenders for vehicle number plates ‘RY’ from today until 12pm on July 18.
Its corporate head, Mohd Tarmizi Ghazali, said that the department is expecting ‘RY’ to be well-received as this will be the last two-letter series of vehicle registration plate in the state.
Before this, he said, the highest collection from tenders for Perlis hit the RM12 million mark with the ‘RR’ vehicle registration plate.
“We expect RY to get the highest quotation because it can be the combination of the initials of a husband and wife or father or mother.
“The price of the plate number is divided into three categories with 1 to 10 starting from RM10,000, draw numbers from RM2,000, and popular numbers at RM300,” he said.
Tarmizi said the department was confident of favourable responses as they have received numerous calls and walk-in queries regarding the booking dates for ‘RY’.
“The Perlis registration number plate is considered unique because it still uses two letters and this is the last one and it is expected to be fast-moving like other states," he said.
