KINABATANGAN: A Pakistani man was found dead with gunshot wounds and bruises on his body in an estate at Tongod here, yesterday.

A lorry driver spotted the body of Rozimand Sherin Khan, 33, in the bushes at about 8am as he was transporting goods to the KJS Sungai Milian Tongod Plantation settlement.

District police chief Superintendent A Sahak Rahmat said the driver stopped and called out to the victim but left after there was no respond.

“He drove to the plantation settlement and alerted a supervisor, who then rushed to check on the victim before calling the police.

“Based on investigation, it was learnt the victim had on June 2 gone to the nearby Kampung Sungai Imbak area to collect debts from plantation workers.

“We believe he was killed on his way out from the area. There were gunshot wounds on his neck and back as well as bruises on his forehead and right leg,” he said.

He said the victim was riding a motorcycle but police did not find his motorcycle nor the victim’s bag or handphone.

Sahak also added no weapon was found near the body and in the bushes but police believed the victim was robbed before he was murdered.

The body has been taken to Duchess of Kent Hospital in Sandakan for a post-mortem.
