KULAI: A 55-year-old woman motorcyclist who was injured in an attempted snatch theft in Jalan Senai Utama 3/3, here on Saturday.

District police chief Superintendent Tan Seng Lee said an unidentified man on a motorcycle approached the victim from behind and attempted to snatch her gold chain in the 4pm incident.

During the struggle, the victim fell off her bike. She sustained injuries to her right ankle and knee.

She later received medical treatment and is reportedly in stable condition.

Tan said investigations are underway to identify the suspect.

The case is investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.

Tan urged members of the public who witnessed the incident to contact investigation officer Inspector Teo Feng Shun at 017-7759106 or the nearest police station.

Meanwhile, Senai assemblyman Wong Bor Yang, who visited the victim at her home said there had been three snatch thefts within the last six month in Senai.

Wong urged police to conduct thorough investigations and arrest the perpetrators.
