KUALA LUMPUR: The South Klang police headquarters is investigating a case involving a woman who fell victim to snatch theft while riding a motorcycle, perpetrated by another motorcyclist.

South Klang district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said they were currently identifying the suspect, an adult male riding a dark-coloured Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, who committed the act at approximately 8.50am on April 15.

"While the victim was en route to work on a Yamaha LC motorcycle along Jalan Persiaran Raja Muda Musa, in front of SMK Raja Zarina, the suspect approached her from behind and forcibly grabbed the crossbody bag strapped across her body. Consequently, the victim fell from the motorcycle and sustained injuries.

"The victim suffered injuries to both palms, knees, and her left shoulder. She received medical treatment at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang.

"The stolen crossbody bag contained a purple iPhone 14, a wallet with personal documents, and cash amounting to RM114. Additionally, the victim's motorcycle incurred scratches to the coverset area. The total loss suffered by the victim is estimated to be around RM 3,000," he said in a statement.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the offense of intentionally causing injury during a robbery, punishable by imprisonment for up to 20 years, along with a fine or whipping.

"The police have also come across several videos related to the suspect's actions, which have circulated widely on social media. We advise the public against spreading these videos to prevent causing alarm within the local community.

"Furthermore, we urge members of the public with any information regarding this incident to step forward either to the nearest police station or to contact the South Klang Police Headquarters at 03-33762222 to assist in the investigation," he said.
