KOTA KINABALU: The sexual harassment trial involving well-known preacher Ebit Lew will continue at the Tenom magistrate's court from Dec 20 to 22.

The upcoming proceedings will continue the hearing which was postponed after four days of the trial from Sept 27 to 30.

The prosecution has so far presented three witnesses, including independent preacher Firdaus Wong on the third and fourth days of the proceedings.

On Feb 18, Ebit was charged with 11 charges including allegedly insulting the honour of a 41-year-old woman in Tenom district by sending obscene words to the victim's phone number via the WhatsApp application, between March and June last year.

Ebit or real name Ebit Irawan Ibrahim, 37 is accused of committing the act according to Section 509 of the Penal Code which carries a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine or both if convicted.

The allegations against Ebit were made following a police report made on Aug 7, 2021.

Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani previously imposed bail of RM1,000 for each charge with two local sureties against Ebit who pleaded not guilty to the 11 charges.
