KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested a former senior private secretary.

The 29-year-old who worked for a former tourism minister has been on the run since June 10.

The suspect is wanted by the MACC to assist in an investigation into a corruption case involving RM3.7 million.

"The money is linked to a company that obtained an advertising contract under the ministry.

"The suspect was arrested after surrendering at the MACC's headquarters in Putrajaya at 5.44pm yesterday," a source said.

According to the source, the suspect was being investigated under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009 and will be produced at the Putrajaya Magistrate's court today for a remand order.

It was previously reported that the owner of the company linked to advertising tender under the Tourism Ministry was charged in court on July 27 on three charges under Section 471 of the Penal Code for falsifying invoices and documents.

Meanwhile deputy chief commissioner (operations) of the MACC Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya when contacted confirmed the arrest.
