KOTA BARU: An ambulance belonging to the Kuala Krai Hospital was stolen from a workshop in Jalan Besar Guchil in Kuala Krai.

The owner of the workshop realised it was missing when he came to work at 8.30am on Wednesday and the 47-old man then reported the loss to police.

Kuala Krai district police chief Superintendent Abdullah Roning said the ambulance was sent to the workshop because of faulty brakes at about 2.30pm on Tuesday.

"The ambulance was missing when the owner arrived at the workshop and there were shattered glass on the ground.

"The complainant said the ambulance was locked inside the workshop when he last saw it," he said.

Abdullah said initial investigation showed that the vehicle was left at an open air car park in front of the workshop.

Police believed that the culprit broke the ambulance window to steal the vehicle.

He added that losses were estimated at about RM100,000 and investigation is on-going.
