NILAI: A 60-year-old man suffered serious burns on his body when a cooking gas cylinder caught fire at his house in Nilai Impian here, this morning.
In the 11.40am incident, the man ran out of the house to seek help from his neighbour when the fire broke out in the kitchen.
Nilai Fire and Rescue Department chief Ahmad Ridwan Yahya said, seven personnel and a team from the Emergency Medical Response Service (EMRS) were deployed to the scene at 11.45am.
“The victim suffered burns on his left hand, body and both legs. He was sent to the clinic for further treatment,” he said.
“We took about 20 minutes to control the fire which was already spreading to the whole kitchen area,” he said.
Ahmad Ridwan added that a loosen gas duct is believed to have caused the incident and further investigation was ongoing.
