SHAH ALAM: The widespread rumour of a large-scale, 36-hours water disruption in Selangor is untrue, said Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas).

Its Communications, Corporate and Public Affairs general manager Priscilla Alfred said the 36-hours water disruption only affect two areas in the state, Sepang and Hulu Langat due to a miniscule repair work from Semenyih treatment plant to Bandar Bukit Mahkota.

She said that the rumour has been circulated on social media applications such as Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter and urge the public to check the company's official website for verified information.

"The water disruption will only affect two areas and it is due to a repair work on a broken pipe. As stated in our press release on January 20, the water supply is expected to be fully restored on January 23 at 8am.

"It is with due urgency that we advise the public not to share any unverified information as it may cause unwarranted panic among residents in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya," she said.
