JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has officially gazetted the Sultan of Johor's coronation day on March 23 this year as an official public holiday.

Johor state secretary Datuk Ismail Karim said March 23 will also be maintained as a state public holiday for the coming years.

"Starting next year, the date will be called Hari Keputeraan Sultan Johor and will also replace the Nov 22 state public holiday," he said at the Sultan Ibrahim Building at Bukit Timbalan here today.

At present, Nov 22 this year will be a normal working day and is in the process of being replaced to March 23 for the coming years.

With the announcement, Ismail hopes that it will clear any misconceptions on March 23 as an official public holiday.
