ALOR STAR: A 59-year-old man was killed in a freak incident when his pump gun accidentally went off after falling off from his motorcycle during a hunting trip in the woods near Kampung Langsat, Changlun here on Friday evening.
A. Thanega, from Pokok Sena died on the spot from severe head injuries in the 6pm incident.
The victim was on a hunting trip with his nephew who was riding on a separate motorcycle during the incident.
Thanega was believed to have lost the control of his motorcycle before the machine crashed, causing the pump gun accidentally went off.
It was learnt that during the fateful incident, his 26-year-old nephew was at a nearby foothill when he heard a gunshot.
However, he had a rude shock upon finding Thanega in a pool of blood next to his motorcycle upon checking on him about 15 minutes later.
Kubang Pasu police chief Superintendent Abdul Rahim Abdullah confirmed the incident but declined to elaborate as investigation was underway.
