GEORGE TOWN: A joke between two friends turned tragic after one of them lost his cool and hit the other person’s head with a jug today.
In the 1pm incident at a hotel on Jalan Gemas, the 42-year-old victim fainted after he was hit with a glass jug on the head three times.
The victim was then rushed to the hospital and received nine stitches. He became conscious several hours after being treated.
According to a source, the two colleagues were washing dishes and fooling around before one of them got mad allegedly because of certain words uttered by the victim.
Northeast District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the incident.
“We have recorded several statements, including one from the victim. We have also identified the suspect and we are now hunting for him,” he said when contacted.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code.
