SIK: A journey back to their village to celebrate Aidilfitri turned into tragedy for three in a family.

The three were injured after the car they were in was involved in an accident with three vehicles on at Jalan Batu 8, here today.

The husband and wife and their six-year-old child in a Perodua Myvi were just 100 metres away from their village when the accident occurred with another similar car and a Toyota Camry around 8pm.

They were believed to be on their way home to the village from Taiping, Perak, to celebrate Aidilfitri.

Sik Fire and Rescue Station chief, Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil, said they received an emergency call regarding the accident at 8.03pm.

He said the woman driving the white Perodua Myvi was trapped and suffered severe injuries to her thigh and knee, while her husband was injured in the face.

"The driver of another Perodua Myvi, a 31-year-old man, and his passenger, a 27-year-old woman, are believed to have just returned from doing business at the Ramadan bazaar.

Meanwhile, he said, passengers in a black Toyota Camry which included two boys aged seven and eight-years-old suffered minor injuries," he said when contacted today.

Zulkhairi said all of them were taken to Sik Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

He said his team successfully extricated the trapped victims using special equipment and placed a cervical collar on the victim.
