KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in collaboration with the police, has recorded a statement from Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman regarding the content of a Hari Raya teaser video uploaded by the cosmetics entrepreneur.

The session was held at the MCMC headquarters in Cyberjaya, Selangor today, in response to complaints received by the commission.

Once the investigation papers are ready, MCMC said it will submit the findings to the Attorney General's Office for further action.

"The video clip uploaded on his social media platform is seen as offensive content that may violate provisions under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 [Act 588].

"This includes Section 233, which prohibits the production and dissemination of communications that are, among other things, offensive, obscene, or harmful with the intention to hurt or disturb others." it said in a statement.

MCMC added that if convicted, individuals can be fined up to a maximum of RM50,000, or imprisoned for up to one year, or both.

It said that investigators have also seized the Aliff Syukri's SIM card and a mobile phone unit that was used to upload the video to assist in the investigation.

Aliff Syukri had recently uploaded a Hari Raya video teaser titled "Love Raya" on social media featuring a group of men dancing, which some described as provocative.

However, he had deleted the video on Monday, after being told by his mother to do so.
