KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has seized the mobile phone and SIM card belonging to entrepreneur Datuk Aliff Syukri Kamarzaman, who uploaded a controversial Hari Raya music video.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the communication equipment involved was sent to the Forensic Unit to facilitate MCMC's probe into the music video.

"I understand that after he was summoned to have his statement recorded at the MCMC headquarters the other day, his mobile phone and SIM card were seized and sent to forensics for further investigation.

"So far, I have not received any detailed information," he said.

It was reported yesterday that Fahmi told the MCMC to take action regarding a video clip uploaded by the cosmetics entrepreneur.

Fahmi had said that he received various comments from social media users, requesting action to be taken regarding the video clip, which has caused discomfort among the public.

On Sunday, Aliff Syukri had once again courted controversy by uploading a teaser of his latest Aidilfitri song, titled Love Raya, on his personal Instagram page, which depicted scenes considered by many as inappropriate.

However, the cosmetics entrepreneur has since deleted the video and issued an apology, after facing criticism from social media users.
