KUALA LUMPUR: Popular member of K-Pop juggernaut BTS, Jin, will be putting showbiz on hold to carry out his mandatory military service soon.

Although the fresh-faced idol who celebrated his 30th birthday on Dec 4 was reported to be enlisting in the Korean military on Dec 13, BTS' agency, BigHit Music, has yet to confirm the exact date.

However, the company that manages the international K-Pop sensation released a statement today on Jin's upcoming military service, which could last for 18 to 21 months.

According to Soompi, the statement read: "We want to thank you for your continued support of BTS and would like to update you on Jin's upcoming enlistment into the military."

"Jin will fulfil his required time with the military by enlisting in the army. Please note that we will not be holding any kind of official event on the day of his recruitment.

"The entrance ceremony is a time to be observed by military personnel and their families only. In order to prevent any issues that might occur from crowding, we ask fans to please refrain from visiting the site," it said.

BigHit Music also advised fans not to purchase any unauthorised tours or packages illegally utilising the artiste's intellectual property (IP) in a bid to cash in on the situation.

"Our company will take necessary action against any attempts at commercial activity making unauthorised use of such an IP.

"We ask for your continued love and support for Jin until he finishes his military service and comes back.

"Our company will also strive to provide every support he needs during this time," it said.

Jin, whose full name is Kim Seok-jin, is the eldest of the successful seven-member K-Pop group.
