KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Bhd's (TNB) subsidiary TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB Remaco) has partnered with Kuwait-based Al Dhow Engineering to expand its power plant maintenance business in Kuwait.

The joint venture has signed a long-term service agreement with General Electric Global Services (GE Vernova) to provide maintenance service solutions for the gas turbines at Shuaiba North Power Generation and Water Distillation Plant in Al Ahmadi, Kuwait.

The plant is owned by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEWRE) of Kuwait.

The agreement is part of a broader effort by the Ministry to modernise the power generation infrastructure in Kuwait, contributing to the global effort for a sustainable energy transition.

The long-term service agreement was announced during United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28 UAE) which was held recently in Dubai.

The scope of the contract includes upgrading the gas turbine's combustion system and the provision of technical advisory services for any plant-related issues or the required upgrades."

TNB Remaco chairman, Ir. Muhammad Nazri Pazil said TNB Remaco has four other ongoing maintenance service projects located in various power plants in Kuwait.

"Kuwait is one of our biggest international markets apart from TNB Remaco other international footprints which includes Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Cambodia and Vietnam," he added.

TNB Remaco is a wholly owned subsidiary of TNB's power generation arm, TNB Power Generation Sdn Bhd specialising in operation & maintenance, overhaul and repair & maintenance of energy-related industry, emphasizing on power plants such as gas, steam and hydro turbines, boiler, generator and others.
