KOTA BARU: Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has shut down several its electricity substations in Rantau Panjang and Pasir Mas following continuous rain and floods since last night.

TNB in a Facebook posting stated that the move was to ensure the safety of consumers.

"The shut down of this substations have affected several areas in these towns and the areas which will not have electricity supply.

"The substations are Bonggol Kulim, Kubang Rambutan, Degong, Sekolah Kok Pauh, Padang Nyior and Tanjung Erat.

"Others are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Lubuk Setol, Air Teniat, Gual Tambun and the Lubok Setol police station," it said.

TNB stated that the electricity shutdown also involved areas in Pondok Gual Dalam, Lubuk Setol, Mountain Ore, Kampung Rahmat, SK Kampung Rahmat and Limau Purut.

It warned that if the flood worsens, risks or endangers the situation, the substations will remain shut down to ensure the safety of local users.

TNB reminded users to be on the alert for heavy rain and risk of floods.

"Keep important documents in a safe place," it stated.
