KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia edged Singapore 14-10 in the Southeast Asia (SEA) rugby 7s final at Singapore's National Stadium today.

Malaysia qualified for the final after outplaying Singapore 31-0, Indonesia 43-7 and Thailand 19-7 in a round robin.

Thailand defeated Taiwan 21-12 for the bronze medal.

National sevens coach Nik Safuan Ismade Nik Man said he was pleased with Malaysia's 100 per cent winning record.

"Winning the title is a boost for us in preparation for the Asian 7s series in September.''

In the women's competition, Thailand thrashed Singapore 42-0 in the final while Malaysia beat Indonesia 38-5 to win the bronze medal.
