KUALA LUMPUR: Jonathan Nyepa held off two former Sea Games champions to win the men's 100m gold medal at the FT All Comers Athletics Championships today.

The Sarawak-born athlete clocked 10.47s at the National Sports Council (NSC) Training Track in Bukit Jalil.

Haiqal Hanafi, who won the 100m Sea Games title in Manila in 2019, finished second with a time of 10.59, while Arsyad Saat won the bronze, clocking 10.64.

Khairul Hafiz Jantan, the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games gold medallist, clocked 10.73 to finish fourth.

Despite being well below his personal best of 10.28, the 28-year-old Jonathan was pleased with his effort.

"I only started training in January, so I am happy to perform well in my first competition of the season, especially against former Sea Games champions," said Jonathan.

In the women's 100m event, veteran Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli claimed the gold by clocking 12.02, leading ahead of Azreen Nabila Alias (12.09) and Nurul Faizah Asma Mazlan (12.43), who secured silver and bronze, respectively.

Naufal Shahrul Afzam emerged victorious in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.60m.

Hafidzul Ain (4.00) and Abu Bakar Abdul Wahid (3.90m) secured the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Meanwhile, the women's long jump event, featuring 25 participants, saw Perak's R. Kirthana clinching the title with a distance of 5.93.

Nurul Ashikin Abas secured the silver with 5.87, while Nur Ashalina Sakinah Abdul Halim Ismail (5.50) finished third.
