KUALA LUMPUR: Troubled runner S. Komalam Shally’s plea to run for Malaysia again will soon be discussed by the Malaysian Athletics Federation and national sports council.

This was revealed by MAF president Datuk Karim Ibrahim, when asked about Komalam’s case.

Komalam was shockingly axed from the women’s 4 x 100m relay squad for indiscipline before the Sea Games in August.

It is learnt that Komalam incurred the wrath of MAF for allegedly not respecting a national coach.

“We are still waiting for a meeting between MAF and NSC to make a decision (on Komalam’s appeal),” said Karim yesterday.

Karim said the NSC will decide on the conditions for Komalam to return to national training.

Last week, 29-year-old Komalam said she hopes to be given a chance by MAF to return to national training.

Komalam, who was named the Armed Forces’ Sportswoman of the Year last week, said she is still training hard.

The MAF earlier turned down an appeal by Komalam to let her participate in the annual national championships.

Her absence affected the national relay sprint team of Zaidatul Husniah Zulkifli, Siti Fatima Mohamad, Azreen Nabila Alias dan Fatin Faqihah Mohd Yusof who finished last in the Kuala Lumpur Sea Games.
