KUALA LUMPUR: MotoGP rookie Pedro Acosta highlighted his premier-class potential after topping the timesheets on the third and final day of the shakedown test at Petronas Sepang International Circuit today.

The Red Bull Gasgas Tech3 rider clocked a one minute and 58.189 second lap to edge Red Bull KTM Factory Racing test rider Pol Espargaro (1:58.255s) to the top spot.

Castrol Honda LCR's Johann Zarco (1:58.400s) was the third fastest rider, just ahead of Monster Energy Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo (1:58.438s) and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing test rider Dani Pedrosa (1:58.478s).

Acosta has been impressive this week, as he clocked the second fastest time on Thursday and was third yesterday.

The 19-year-old, who won the Moto2 world title last year, has been tipped as a potential MotoGP star.

Teams have taken the opportunity to test many new parts this week with most rolling out new aero packages to boost aerodynamics.

The teams will now have two days-off before resuming with the official Sepang test on Feb 6-8.
