KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia blew a 3-1 lead and drew 3-3 with hosts Oman in their opening Group D match in the en's Hockey 5s World Cup in Muscat today.

Syarman Mat Tee (ninth minute) and Akhimullah Anuar Esook (12th) gave Malaysia a 2-0 lead.

Oman narrowed the deficit through Fahad Al Lawati (13th) before

Akhimullah made it 3-1 (penalty sttoke, 16th).

But Oman came back strongly with two goals through Aiman Madit (22nd) and Khalid Al Shaibi (25th).

Malaysia need to beat the United States and Fiji next to secure a place in the quarter-finals.
