NIBONG TEBAL: Selangor FC winger Faisal Abdul Halim, also known as Mickey, has started light exercises while continuing his physiotherapy sessions, his father, Abdul Halim Saad, said.
He mentioned that the 26-year-old is making positive progress, and his recovery has reached nearly 95 per cent.
Abdul Halim added that the support provided by the Selangor FC management, friends, and family has strengthened his spirit to recover quickly.
"Thank you to the Selangor FC management for giving him full attention. His mental strength is high because he has the heart of a footballer... he isn't thinking about anything else and wants to get back to playing football," he told Bernama during the Madani Football Clinic at Jawi Public Field on Saturday.
According to Abdul Halim, his family members are not dwelling on the past incident and have come to terms with what happened to his son.
Meanwhile, DNA Faisal Halim Club president Ammar Pauzi, who was also present at the event, said the football clinic, organised in collaboration with Sekolah Kebangsaan Jawi, Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Bakap, and the Young Warriors Academy Club, aims to unearth talent among young people and produce football players in the mould of Faisal.
This aligns with an announcement by Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid, who expressed a desire for the club to tour every district, bringing the DNA Faisal Halim Club football module to teach children around the state.
"Today's programme received an encouraging response with attendance reaching up to 250 children aged between seven and 12. At the same time, we are also showing solidarity for Faisal as a sign of support and hope that his spirit will inspire the participants today," he said.
On May 5, Faisal suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body after being attacked with acid by an unknown individual in Kota Damansara, Selangor.
On May 25, Faisal was discharged from a private hospital after undergoing four surgeries.
