KUALA LUMPUR: The bragging rights are going to Anfield from Kuala Lumpur.

The Liverpool legends proved on Saturday that they were the better Reds by beating the Manchester United legends 4-2 at the National Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

About 10,000 Malaysia fans turned up for the "Battle of the Reds" as they relived the days of the great rivalry between Liverpool and United, never mind that the summit of the EPL has been coloured blue by Manchester City in recent years.

Liverpool Reds team manager David James had said on the eve of the clash that Bukit Jalil would be the place to settle the great debate.

Though it rained before the match, the spirits of the fans remained undampened as they cheered on their favourite EPL teams throughout 40 exhilrating minutes in each half.

Liverpool's Djibril Cisse stole the spotlight with a hat-trick, including two penalties, in the 16th, 44th and 51st. Their fourth goal was scored by Florent Sinama in the 76th.

Manchester Reds replied through goals by Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Webber in the 17th and 39th respectively.
