KUALA LUMPUR: A group of youths have ignited anger online after a video of them cooking at a petrol station in Genting Highlands went viral on TikTok and other social media platforms.

The video shows the youths using two portable stoves to cook instant noodles and other food while parked at the gas station.

The area appears crowded with cars, seemingly blocked by the teenagers who are also seen relaxing in their "healing chairs".

The caption for the video read: "Went to Genting, cooked instant noodles. Looks like we're opening stalls and doing business here."

The video also captured the sound of approaching police sirens with the caption: "They're (police) here. Let's continue to eat because we've already cooked."

Netizens slammed the youths for their recklessness, highlighting the fire hazards involved with cooking at a petrol station.

User @feeragreen wrote: "Hey, imagine if it explodes. Allah gave you a brain, use it. Not only did you create traffic at the gas station, but you also endangered people's lives. If you don't care about your own life, it's fine, but think about other people's lives too."

Meanwhile, user @h4ily shares his experience: "Back when I worked at Shell, there was someone selling food in front of Shell because the passage in and out was narrow and close to the diesel pump on the outside.

"My boss quickly sorted out that matter because the gas that comes out of the petrol when refuelling will evaporate into the air, that's why we can smell it and it's highly flammable."

Some comments urged the petrol station company to take action before more people normalise it and to avoid something from happening in future.
