KUALA LUMPUR: M-League clubs will be allowed to field a maximum six foreign players for the 2024-205 season.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced today that teams can register up to nine imports, but the number of foreign players on the pitch is not more than six.

MFL increased the foreign quota from five to six (including one each from Asia and Asean) following requests from M-League clubs.

"MFL wants to remind the clubs to sign import players in line with their financial situation."

MFL also announced that the kickoff dates of the 2024-2025 season, May 3-5, have been pushed to May 10-12 to allow time for the testing of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR). A series of test matches between M-League teams will be held from April 22-May 5.
