SHAH ALAM: The yearned for and long awaited return of the Malaysia Cup trophy to Perak soil could be just the right anecdote for the Bos Gaurus squad’s loyal fans who cannot be at the Shah Alam Stadium for tomorrow night’s (Saturday) highly anticipated Malaysia Cup final clash between their side and Terengganu.

The high demand for the cup final’s tickets has seen many fans in despair because they were unable to procure tickets, and resigned to the fact that they will have to watch the eagerly anticipated clash on television instead.

Perak captain Shahrul Saad admitted that he really feels bad the fans who failed to get tickets, but he said that such scenario has really motivated the entire squad to give it their all and even more to end the 18-year long wait to lift the prestigious trophy as champions.

“We can see with our own eyes the sacrifices fans made to line up for hours, sacrificing their time to get tickets but sadly they were unable to and have been left sad and empty handed.

“We sympathise with the fans because of the situation, but we hope that the fans who are not able to be at the stadium to support us will continue to be behind the team regardless.

“Perhaps if we are able to become Malaysia Cup champions tomorrow night (Saturday), we hope it will be able to make up for the utter disappointment of the many fans who could not get tickets for the final,” he said during the pre-match press conference at the Shah Alam Stadium here earlier today (Friday).

Speaking on the final, the international central defender has reminded his fellow teammates to pull out all the stops when they take on Terengganu.

“We must be alert and pay attention to not just a few, but all the Terengganu players, and we must be focused and concentrate on our game plan to avoid lapses in concentration throughout the match if we are to emerge victorious.

“This is our best chance to lift the prestigious trophy after 18-years, which has been too long a wait, so we must not waste such a golden opportunity such as this,” stressed Shahrul.
