KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Pro Cycling (MPC) rewarded their riders and staff with Hari Raya bonuses totaling RM32,000 today.

MPC team principal Sayuti Zahit said the payout was in recognition of the team's strong performances at the Tour of Thailand which concluded on Saturday.

MPC's riders finished on the podium in four out of the six stages of the UCI 2.1 tour.

Three of them were achieved by sprinter Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halim who was subsequently rewarded with an RM7,000 bonus from the team.

"We wanted to surprise our team with the bonus after doing well at the Tour of Thailand," said Sayuti when contacted today.

"We want to them to feel that their hard work has been appreciated and also motivate them to achieve more success in future races."

MPC was formed in August last year and is the successor of Team Sapura Cycling.

The latter was forced to close down earlier last year after failing to secure new sponsors.
