KUALA LUMPUR: Lai Pei Jing-Lim Chiew Sien's fairytale run at the Australian Open ended with the women's doubles duo settling for second best.

On Sunday, the one-time scratch combination lost 12-21, 21-7, 21-13 to Indonesia's Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma-Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi in the final at the States Sports Centre in Sydney.

Pei Jing, who is a mixed doubles player with Tan Kian Meng, decided to try playing women's doubles as well with Chiew Sien in Sydney.

A fortnight ago, Pei Jing took to social media to share that she had fallen victim to an investment scam and lost all her savings.
