National para-badminton coach Rashid Sidek has slammed the tight schedule of the men's singles SH6 event at the Tokyo Paralympics.

Rashis is furious following Didin Taresoh's quick exit from the tournament at the Yoyogi Stadium.

The 46-year-old Didin finished last in Group B after losing to India's Krishna Nagar and Brazil's Vitor Goncalves Tavarez on Thursday.

The Sabah-born withdrew during the second game of the match against Tavarez after picking up an injury.

"I do not understand it. The SH6 competition should have started on Wednesday to allow players to recover by playing only one match a day," said Rashid yesterday.

"Didin had to play two matches yesterday (Thursday), and it affected his performance. He also suffered an injury.

"I am not saying Didin would have qualified for the semi-finals if the schedule was kind to him. There were only three players in his group, so the scheduling of matches should have been better.

"Playing two matches a day is just too much for para-shuttlers, especially Didin, who is already 46 years old.

"Cheah Liek Hou had a better schedule with one match a day in the SU5 category, despite having four players in each group.

"Anyway, I am pleased with Didin's performance as he fought hard against players who were younger than him."
