LETTERS: There has been much talk about stray animals of late. Most of it is centred on dogs as they are the ones found loitering in the open.

The other strays that are not often in the "limelight" are cats. The problem created by the cats is for those living on landed properties.

Almost daily, one will notice their poop in the front yard or garden.

Once they have done their business at a certain spot, they will keep returning.

Most of the cats are reared by residents in the neighbourhood. One can try scattering certain pellets on the garden area where they frequent and that is supposed to act as a repellent.

However, these cats are very smart. They will find a new spot to do their business.

To avoid any misunderstanding with neighbours, it is only proper that the owners of cats be more responsible and keep their cats within their compound.

In this way, they won't pose a nuisance to others in the neighbourhood.
