KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said he has not received any notice on the status of six Bersatu members of parliament who declared their support for the prime minister.

He said he has not received any calls, formal letters or emails from Bersatu and as such, the six are still MPs.

Johari said his focus remains on parliamentary affairs, and issues related to political party memberships are not within his purview.

Anything related to amendments made within a party, he added, were also not under his power and he will not intervene.

"So, until the notice is on my desk and they (Bersatu) resolve the matter, then I see it as nothing is happening.

"As long as it doesn't involve Parliament, I won't get involved nor give advice," he told reporters at his office in Parliament.

Last week, Bersatu said it would serve notices to its seven elected representatives who declared their support for the unity government, compelling them to vacate their parliamentary and state seats next week.

Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin had said the notices will be sent simultaneously to all the seven elected representatives after the conclusion of the Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election.

This came after Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said, in April, that the party will take action against seven elected representatives who have declared support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"Maybe they don't understand or maybe they are just trying to console themselves (that they will not be affected by Bersatu's constitutional amendments)," said Muhyiddin in a video posted on social media.

"It's okay. Let them enjoy Hari Raya... we will take action after."
