SHAH ALAM: Avoid following your emotions and be ethical.

That was the advice of PKR vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar to party leaders and members when responding to critics and detractors of the party and its leadership.

The former Permatang Pauh member of Parliament said PKR leaders have always avoided making personal attacks when criticising or responding to false allegations fabricated by the party's political opponents.

This, said Nurul Izzah, was evident when was she alongside other PKR leaders were critical towards past administrations during an era which she described as 'maha firaun' (tyrant) era.

"When we used the word 'maha firaun', we were referring to the dictatorship of a main leader (during the past administration).

"This means that we did not make personal attacks but the dictatorship character of the person," she said during a dialogue held during the PKR convention in conjunction with the party's 25th anniversary celebration.

Other leaders present during the dialogue included the party's deputy president Rafizi Ramli and PKR secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Nurul Izzah also thanked party members and supporters who had used proper channels to defend the party and PKR leaders against accusations made by their political foes.

"I want to thank all of you who have lodged police reports (against people spreading false information or made baseless accusations against PKR and its leaders).

"Thank you for using the right channel in line with the provision of the law in refuting slanders and obtaining justice for the party.

"Fast forward, we want the authorities to carry out enforcement against quarters (spreading false accusations against PKR).

"At the same time, we should avoid from submitting to our emotions (when responding to critics of the party)," she said.
