KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin today stressed that he had never met Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya near here in to discuss on potential position.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general, who is also the Larut member of Parliament, described such a claims as "fitnah" (slander).

Hamzah added that he had never attended any meetings with Anwar since the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leader was appointed as the country's 10th prime minister in 2022.

"That is fitnah. I had never met Anwar since he became the prime minister.

"We only crossed paths in Parliament sometimes," Hamzah, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) secretary-general told reporters here today.

He also said that other Bersatu leaders who were accused with the same allegations also denied that they had met Anwar.

"Recently, Bersatu convened the party's Supreme Council meeting.

"At the meeting, the leaders who were accused of meeting Anwar even said 'Wallahi' (swear in the name of Allah) to deny such claims," he said.

An online news portal, which quoted party insiders, reported that a top Bersatu leader was spotted in PMO recently believe to broker a proposal for his political survival.

The sources, said the reports, however refused to reveal the identity of the said Bersatu leader.

The reports also said the same party insiders also confirmed there will be more Bersatu leaders who are expected to announce their support for Anwar.
