KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Kangsar member of Parliament Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid is still part of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), said Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

The Pas deputy president confirmed this when asked if Iskandar had been threatened to support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He also expressed hope that the claims that he was pressured to lend support were untrue.

"That is the official statement by the PN secretary-general (on the claims), I believe he has information on the matter, and I hope that it did not happen even though he (Iskandar) remains with PN and Bersatu.

"However, the issue of allocation (to members of Parliament) is the responsibility of the government and MPs should not be threatened or pressured.

"We understand the challenges faced by the people's representatives," he said when met after the tabling of the 2024 Budget in Parliament today.

Opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin had claimed that Iskandar was pressured into supporting Anwar to ensure the unity government regained its two-thirds majority in the Dewan Rakyat.

The Larut MP also claimed that Iskandar, on Oct 1, was brought to meet with a senior officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at a hotel in Damansara.

He was allegedly threatened with corruption charges if he was unwilling to sign a pre-prepared media statement stating his support for the government.
