BENTONG: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa is making his presence felt on the campaign trail, lending his support to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam in the ongoing Pelangai by-election.

Mujahid said his two-day visit to the constituency, which began yesterday (Wed), was done to demonstrate the team spirit within Pakatan Harapan and BN within the unity government.

He reminded members of both coalitions to regard any candidate put forth by either coalition as 'their own' candidate.

"This is a unity candidate. It is the responsibility of all component parties to help, like how our friends in Umno helped us in the Pulai and Simpang Jeram by-elections.

"We, at the same time, can repay this kindness by reciprocating, especially since we are all in the unity government. The BN candidate is our candidate as well. Our leaders have decided that all unity candidates must be supported to help them win," he told Berita Harian.

He was speaking to the press after accompanying the BN candidate at a programme with the Felda Chemomoi youth here yesterday.

Asked whether his presence in Pelangai to help BN could confuse local voters, Mujahid said a large majority of people are already aware of the cooperation between PH and BN.

He believed that going to the ground is a more efficient way of demonstrating the PH-BN partnership.

"We don't want to just talk but also show and prove that BN or PH's candidate is a unity candidate.

"Actions speak louder than words," he said.

With days left until polling day on Saturday, Mujahid called on PH and BN supporters to lend their backing to the BN candidate.

He said the backing by PH, particularly Amanah, can help steer BN to victory.
