KUANTAN: First-term Pelangai assemblyman Datuk Amizar Abu Adam was appointed as a Pahang executive council member today.

The 51-year-old received his appointment letter from Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, before the oath-taking ceremony at Istana Abdulaziz here.

Amizar won the Pelangai state constituency by-election on Oct 7 last year, which was held following the death of its incumbent, Datuk Seri Johari Harun.

Johari had served as the Pahang Local Government and Housing Committee chairman before the post was left vacant following his death in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on Aug 17 last year.

Following Johari's death, the Pahang state executive council line-up had nine members, including two from Pakatan Harapan.

Present were Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Zulkifli Yaacob and other state executive council members.

Wan Rosdy said a minor restructuring involving the state executive committee members' portfolios will be announced tomorrow.

"Just a minor reshuffle (of portfolios)... some changes for the betterment of the state administration to make it easier for us to assist the people. This will ensure a more effective and solid administration. Wait for the announcement tomorrow."

Wan Rosdy is scheduled to chair the weekly Pahang executive council meeting at Wisma Sri Pahang here tomorrow.
