SHAH ALAM: Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has lambasted a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) leader over claims that the opposition party could develop Selangor as a "super state" should they win the state elections.

The caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar, said Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, who made the statement, needed a roadmap for developing Selangor into a super state.

Amirudin said Selangor, under his care, is already a super state, primarily through the implementation of the state's First Selangor Plan.

"They (the opposition) always talk about change, but I have not heard of their plans.

"They said they want Selangor to be a super-state, but how? In my case, I don't need to wait for a new budget or election.

"Last year, I rolled out the First Selangor plan, which has over 200 projects," he said during the Arus Merah Kuning Mega Ceramah at Subang Bestari Saturday night.

Also present were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Deputy Local Government Development Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) pact Kota Damansara candidate Mohammad Izuan Ahmad Kasim, PH-BN pact Paya Jaras candidate Mohd Khairuddin Othman and PH-BN pact Gombak Setia candidate Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.

He added that since Selangor contributed 25 per cent of the country's economy, the priority should be to continue its development.

Earlier this month, Saifuddin was quoted as saying that Perikatan Nasional (PN) would ensure Selangor develops to its full potential should PN win the upcoming election in the state.

Saifuddin claimed Amirudin had failed to realise the vision of a "super state".
