KOTA KINABALU: The formalisation of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) will help to boost the state's economy and development, Sabah Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Srikandi chief Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun.

"We have to understand that to attract foreign investors to Sabah, one of the most important factors is the stability of the government itself.

"If there is a legal and official formation of GRS then we are confident that foreign investors will be easier to enter the state.

"The situation can directly increase income and economic development in Sabah, thus enabling us to generate more employment opportunities for the people," she said in a statement.

Azizah was commenting Sabah Bersatu deputy chief Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun's statement that there were informal meetings discussing about the issue.

GRS comprises Barisan Nasional, Perikatan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah. It was formed during the 2020 state election.

Azizah, who is also a Beaufort member of parliament, said efforts to accelerate the registration of GRS as a formal and legal combination would also enable the creation of a more structured work in resolving an issue or implementing people's development plans.

"We hope that with a formal GRS, we will not only execute governance work but also the coalition can work better for the people and resolve various issues of the people.

"We want this coalition to be a strong coalition and work for Sabah.

"The future of the people of Sabah depends on a strong and stable government. That is the basis for the smooth administration and development of the people."
