KUALA LUMPUR: Tributes continue to pour in for the 10 crew members who perished in the helicopter crash at the Royal Malaysian Navy Base in Lumut, Perak.

One such tribute, penned by fellow colleague and brother-in-arms Lieutenant Chan Jun Shen to his friend Lieutenant T. Sivasutan, has left many teary-eyed.

In the heartfelt tribute posted on Facebook, Chan recounted many fond memories he shared with the late Sivasutan, 31, who hailed from Sitiawan.

Together with another fellow colleague Lieutenant Fariq, Chan recounted how Sivasutan had once forgotten to bring his casual wear when they had to leave for a detachment in Borneo.

In the post, Chan recounted how the trio went in search of "new" clothes for Sivasutan in bundle shops in Tawau.

"That was how Siva was introduced to 'bundle indoctrination'," Chan wrote.

Chan also playfully "accused" Sivasutan of passing his Covid-19 infection to him when they had to share a room in Tawau.

"You are the reason I lost my Covid virginity," he said jokingly.

Soon after that, Fariq, who also shared the same room, was also infected.

It was also during the detachment period that many stories were shared. Sivasutan once told Chan that a fortune-teller once told the former that he would never find a partner in life.

However, all that changed one day, when Sivasutan came into the office bearing good news.

"He handed me a wedding invitation, and I congratulated him. I was so happy for him. He was out to prove the fortune-teller wrong," he said.

Sivasutan had just tied the knot with his wife, a dentist, on Jan 25.

The couple had previously been living apart, and they had just begun to experience married life after his wife, who had previously worked in Penang, was able to move to Teluk Intan.

When news of the tragedy came in, Chan couldn't believe that the body lying next to the pool was his best friend.

"I had a glimpse of his face one last time. Tears were flowing uncontrollably," he said.

Sivasutan was the Fennec (M502-6) helicopter pilot and was among 10 crew members who died in the tragic accident on Tuesday morning.

The late Sivasutan's body was cremated at the Sungai Wangi Hindu Cemetery in Sitiawan on Thursday morning.
