KOTA BARU: The removal of Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali as Pas's central working committe member is not due to any issue related to Perikatan Nasional or Muafakat Nasional.

Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Kuala Nerus MP was dismissed from the committee for going against the party's discipline.

"I would like to confirm here and also deny the allegations by certain quarters that the action taken against him (Khairuddin) was related with PN or MN.

"I will not disclose the details on his removal but to those who have spread false allegations on the matter, I would like to warn them that Pas will not hesitate to take legal action against them," Takiyuddin said.

Takiyuddin said Pas had never taken action against members over a clash of opinions.

"We will only take action against a member if he is found to have breached the party's discipline and the decision will only be made by the president with the consent of the party's central committee," he said.

Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali has been dropped as the central working committee member on Friday, less than two months after being appointed to the post.

Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed Khairuddin's removal, adding that the decision to dismiss the 48-year-old Kuala Nerus MP was made in a party meeting held at its headquarters recently.

Khairuddin, formerly cabinet minister in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's government, had suggested that he was dropped following his push for Pas to continue working with Umno in the MN pact.
