ALOR STAR: Kedah and Kelantan Umno have joined other Barisan Nasional (BN) leaders telling MCA to just leave the coalition instead of prolonging the issue of whether it should stay.

Kedah Umno liason deputy chief Datuk Othman Aziz said there was no point for MCA to remain in BN considering the Chinese party had failed to garner support from the community.

He said MCA seemed to be in a dreamland thinking that it had the support of the people.

“The way I see it MCA needs to self reflect and see where it stands in the local political scene.

“The party has been unable to get any support for itself let alone BN. It is better for them to go their own way...only then will they see for themselves how the Chinese have abandoned them,” he said.

Othman said MCA had failed miserably in the past three general elections and was now trying to pin the blame on Umno.

He said the party had turned into a joke and it would be best if they just left BN.

Meanwhile, in Kota Baru, Kelantan Umno Information chief Datuk Zawawi Othman also questioned MCA’s threat to dissolve BN.

“Who are they to threaten such a move? They only have one seat and it would be no loss to anybody if they leave BN.

“Actually, I really don’t know how to respond to their latest antics of threatening to dissolve BN,” he said.

Zawawi said MCA had actually contributed to BN’s poor performance in the last three general elections as the party failed to garner any Chinese support.
