IPOH: Rafizi Ramli claimed that he’s currently ahead of Datuk Seri Azmin Ali in the battle for PKR vice-president post following a big victory at the party’s election in Perak.

Rafizi, through his Facebook posting tonight, said he was surprised by the Perak result which gave him a big leap in front of Azmin.

“Thank you to all Perak voters who gave 6,700 (61 per cent) votes to me, compared to 4,359 (39 per cent) votes for Azmin. I’ve also won in 19 out of 24 branches in Perak, the biggest result in any states so far,” he posted.

Rafizi also said that based on the result, he now received 47,542 votes in total or 50.5 per cent with 86 wins compared to Azmin who has 46,547 votes (49.5 per cent) with 72 wins.

He also thanked his supporters in Kedah which saw him received 3,210 votes compared to Azmin’s 3,653.

“With 158 branches from 12 states and Federal Territory in the peninsula who have voted, except six branches in Selangor which polls will take place tomorrow, I’m now in the lead with 995 votes.

“This is (after) taking into account the results in the Negeri Sembilan and Melaka branches which have been announced," he said.

Rafizi said it was a great result considering he has no position in the government and was campaigning with what he only had.

He added that the results, especially in Perak, clearly showed that there is a demand from grassroots which central leadership must address.

“I hope this performance could continue in the final six branches in Selangor, and then Sabah and Sarawak.

“I hope volunteers and #Reformasi20Tahun campaign machinery would stay fresh and be in high spirit for the final sprint.

“I’m confident that with this momentum, plus the support in Sabah and Sarawak, the internal reformation agenda that we’re bringing through #Reformasi20Tahun can be realised,” he said.
