KUALA LUMPUR: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government today been reminded that their “honeymoon period” is over and that the ruling coalition should stop giving excuses for failing to honour promises made to the people.

Puteri Umno chief Datuk Zahida Zarik Khan contended that the PH government should have not made the promises if the coalition knew that they could not fulfil it.

“In the Malay community, a promise is considered as a debt. One should not make any promises if he or she cannot fulfil them.

“One should deliberate longer before making any promises, whether they want to fulfil it or not.

“And in the Malay community, the dignity of a person lies on the extent to which he adheres to his promise,” said Zahida in her speech at the opening of the movement's annual general assembly here.

Umno vice president, Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Umno supreme council members including Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam were present.

Also in attendance was PAS Ameerah director Husna Hashim.

Zahida was referring to 10 pledges, which PH promised to fulfil within its first 100 days in office, after winning the 14th General Election.

She was critical when criticising the action of people or groups who failed to honour their promises.

“Orang yg mungkir janji ibarat menyimbah air kencing pada orang yg dijanji (The action of people, who did not honour their promise is similar to splashing urine to others),” she said.
