BATU KAWAN: PKR has yet to hold any official meeting at the highest level to discuss the parliamentary seat which would be vacated to pave the way for the party’s de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to contest in a by-election, says PKR Wanita chief, Zuraida Kamaruddin.
She said an official meeting should be held to discuss the matter.
She said the decision by right should have the consensus of the senior leadership and not just involve selected leaders.
“As a party leader, I am proposing that an official meeting be held. We have to study the seats on which ones would pose the least risk.
“We will see which seats carry minimum risks and based on that, we can then decide on which seat should be given to Anwar,” she told a press conference after a working visit to the Penang Fire and Rescue Department in Batu Kawan, here on Tuesday.
Zuraida, who is also Housing and Local Government Minister, was commenting on a statement by PKR vice-president Tian Chua, who had voiced his disappointment with fellow VP Rafizi Ramli for sidelining him in discussions concerning Anwar’s possible seats.
Tian Chua in a tweet said Rafizi, who had previously spoken at length on openness, transparency and truth, is now fine with having a selected few make major decisions for the party without consulting others in the leadership.
“Is this a democratic party or a secret society?” he asked.
