IPOH: Perak Umno Youth has urged the party to undergo a leadership transformation and take on a new approach to recover the party’s pride and take back the federal government in the 15th General Election.

Its chief, Khairul Shahril Mohamed, said the party’s top leadership should take responsibility for what had happened in the 14th General Election and accept a leadership change.

"The party’s interest and people’s struggle should be given priority over personal interest.

"We need to revitalise the party’s struggle to take back Putrajaya in GE15,” he said in a statement today.

Khairul Shahril who is also Bota state assemblyman said everyone knew the failure of Barisan Nasional to defend Putrajaya was because of a young voter tsunami comprising those who were voting for the first time.

He said the complaints of youth through social media were on a number of issues among them “Malaysia Official 1' (MO1), 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

He said the youths did not reject BN but wanted their voices to be heard without cynical responses from the leadership.

"We have to accept this with an open heard and work to address the issues by looking at the leadership of the party at the highest levels.”

In congratulating Pakatan Harapan, Khairul urged all Umno members to be good and responsible Opposition members.
