KEPALA BATAS: The opposition has to resort to political lies and games to deceive the people that they have the much needed strength to take over Putrajaya in the 14th General Election.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said this was evident during the recent rally in Putrajaya where the opposition had to resort to importing outsiders there while claiming they had attracted a sea of civil servants to attend.

He said he observed on social media and found that many of those who attended were not even civil servants.

“They import people from outside and claim that the people of Putrajaya support them.

“This is the kind of political games they are playing and political lies they are spewing. For them, they are willing to go to great lengths just to ensure their goals are met,” he told the more than 5,000 Kepala Batas folk who attended a gathering here this morning.

Najib said this was unlike the crowd at Barisan Nasional-organised ceramah and gathering.

“Just look at today’s event. Look at the crowd who came. They are all local people. We do not need to ferry outsiders by the busloads just to attend our event.

“We (BN) have the strength all across the country. And with this strong support, BN will be able to return to power on May 9.

“And trust me, this strength of ours is not something easy for the opposition to expound upon because they know very well who can come to their defence and help them,” he said to loud cheers from the crowd.

Najib also warned the people not to be easily hoodwinked by what the opposition said.

He added that they (the opposition) were not interested in the truth, and only went about saying what they wanted and was good for them.

He cited the open dialogue by 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) president and chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy in Balik Pulau recently, where none of the opposition leaders were present.

“This is the season for the fabrication of lies and slander. This is the season for the slander tsunami.

This is used as a weapon to incite hatred towards the government.

“Worse still, they dish out all the sweet promises, which are laced with ‘poison’, and this is extremely dangerous

“It is happening and it will continue to go on,” he said, noting that there was no need for BN to pour scorn over the opposition’s ‘sandiwara’ (play) as Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Dr P. Ramasamy himself was already doing it.

“He (Ramasamy), from DAP, had recently said that they had not forgotten what Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had done to the people. He had also said that the decade-long problems the people faced were due to Dr Mahathir.

“It is okay if the people opted for a good change but just look at the opposition,” he said, stressing that even international organisations, after conducting analyses, had said the opposition’s election manifesto could not be implemented as it contained only false promises.

Meanwhile, Najib also expressed hope that Kepala Batas parliamentary seat, once held by former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, and the three state seats within it, would be with the BN which had championed the constituents all along.

“I am confident that Pak Lah’s (Abdullah) seats will be retained again for the BN by (state Umno liaison committee deputy chairman Datuk Seri) Reezal (Merican Naina Merican) and the other BN candidates with a 4-0 victory,” he said.

The Kepala Batas seat has within it the state seats of Penaga, Bertam and Pinang Tunggal.

Present were Penang Federal Action Council chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman, state Barisan Nasional chief Teng Chang Yeow and Reezal.
